God is a spirit

God told Moses in Exodus 3:14; that His name was "I AM".
There are many things we can learn about God from Bible verses:
​
Genesis 1:1; In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
​
1 John 1:5; This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you:
God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.
2 Peter 3:9; The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish,
but everyone to come to repentance.

Hebrews 4:12; For the word of God is alive and active.
Sharper than any double-edged sword,
it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Isaiah 40:23; He brings princes to nothing, and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness..

James 1:17; Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,
Who does not change like shifting shadows.

John 4:24; God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Matthew 6:26; Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Numbers 23:19; God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change his mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?
Psalm 18:30; As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him.
Psalm 50:6; And the heavens proclaim His righteousness, for He is a God of justice.
Psalm 116:5; The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.
Romans 6:23; For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Psalm 68:19-20; Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.
20 Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death.
Psalm 84:11-12; For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless. 12 LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.
If we look at the highlighted words about God's character we can see who and what God is:
*He is the Creator of all,
"God is light" - He is all light.

God is a Spirit
God is defined as a Spirit. All of the definitions state in various ways that God is invisible to human sight and gives evidence of force in motion.
​
God can be nothing (Inactive). God can be one thing, or several things, or everything (Active). He is an active or inactive force depending upon His decision/will.
The three things we know and hear about often is that God is the:

Father - our Creator (God)

Son - Jesus (Lord)
-
Holy Spirit - One of the main ways God communicates to us. (Spirit, Comforter, Helper, Advocate)

God is these above 3 things simultaneously. Since God is not physical, this is possible. See TRINITY

God is a Spirit. Jesus is a Spirit, Angels are spirits, Satan is a spirit, Satan's demons are spirits. We are basically a spirit (human spirit- See 'TRINITY'

1. God is our Father because He created humans. See 'THE BEGINNING OF MANKIND'.
2. God made Jesus (His Son) See 'THE BEGINNING OF MANKIND'.
3. The Holy Spirit which can indwell us, (if we choose) is God (through Jesus). See 'THE HOLY SPIRIT.

SPIRIT EMOTIONS: Spirits do not have uncontrolled emotions. They have deliberate emotions. That is important to know because if you feel an uncontrolled emotion, just know that it cannot be you - the real you - the human spirit which God gave each and every one of us when we were in the womb. See 'HUMAN SPIRIT'.
Spirits understand and communicate to other spirits.
God is a Spirit, Angels are spirits, the Holy Spirit is a Spirit, and we (human spirit) is a spirit + body. See 'HUMAN SPIRIT'

1 Corinthians 2:11-14; For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him?
Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

This verse is very specific and says “their own spirit (lower case) within them”. What else could this be, but the human spirit? This means that the human spirit, we received from God when we were in the womb, "knows the thoughts of a man".

When we are 'reborn' then we get a renewed human spirit, which also 'knows the thoughts of a man"
​
"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit (capitalized = Holy Spirit. See 'HOLY SPIRIT') who is from God (through Jesus) so that we may know the things freely given to us by God".

"not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit"

This is very exciting. It means that God is communicating to us through His Holy Spirit (which is Him).

It is important to note that the Holy Spirit does not speak on his own, but only what he hears from God - through Jesus. Also, the Holy Spirit talks to our reborn human spirit.
God loves you
Romans 5:8; But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God shows His unwavering, unchanging love for us, even when we were sinners. His love never changes - it is complete, total and consuming. By sending His only son to die on the cross for our sins, he proves His love.
Jeremiah 31:3; The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.
Ephesians 2:4-5; But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
1 John 4:7-8; Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Zephaniah 3:17; The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
Definition of abide - Merriam Webster
a: to bear patiently : TOLERATE
b: to endure without yielding : WITHSTAND abide the onrush of the enemy.

That is what we need to do with our love for others, and God, and ourselves.
God's love for us will strengthen, help and uphold us.
God's love is everlasting and faithful.
God's has a great love for us and gave us a second chance with His Son Jesus, where all our past sins are cancelled (as if they never existed) and we have been released from the Law of Moses and now have the time of Grace. (See 'GRACE AND THE LAW').
Anyone who does not love, does not know God.

Very true. I did not love even close to the way God Loves until I found God. Now I step in His shadow and am learning to love more and more.
How wonderful is that!
Getting closer to God
How do we get closer to God?
Psalm 37:4; Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
That is the way it has to be. We need to decide to be closer to Him and delight in Him at which point He will delight in us. He does not impose upon us because He is a God of choice.
Matthew 6:33; But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Psalm 145:18; The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.
Proverbs 8:17; I love those who love me and those who seek me find me.
James 4:8; Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Isaiah 41:10; So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
God is always there, but we need to reach for Him and believe in Him first and all things can be given to us.
God waits for you to call on Him!
Call on him in truth, and you will find Him near.
Love God and He will love you. Seek God and you will find Him.
"Come near" says God. He knows what would stop us. He knows it is our sins, or our considered sins. So, He says "Wash your hands and purify your hearts and don't be double minded. (of two minds - undecided, going in 2 directions at once).
God is the attributes above, and these. There is pure love and complete forgiveness (which comes automatically by loving the way God does). He strengthens and helps us. He upholds us.
Get closer to God. What we need to do.
Crucifying the flesh (ignoring the thoughts of the body/brain/flesh) brings us closer to God because there is no interferences from the body/brain/flesh.
It took a concerted effort on my part. I say the word 'cancelled' every time I get an unwanted thought from anywhere, which is pretty effective. (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, AND YOUR MIND').
2 Corinthians 5:17; This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
Isaiah 55:6-7; Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.
If we are "in Christ", we are a new person" (reborn)
This means we are not the same as we were.
We are new! The "old life has "gone".
We can become closer to God by embodying and experiencing our new life.
"Seek the Lord (Jesus) while he might be found:, who can see into your heart, wants to pardon you. You just need to call on Him and give up any unrighteous thoughts.
​1 John 1:9; If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Why does God want to forgive our sins and purify us? Because He loves us and is Faithful and Just. He is our Father. We have only to confess them.
Acts 3:19; Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
When our sins are confessed and forgiven He can refresh us. He wants to give us gifts. We just need to be pure so we can be close to Him and He closer to us.
Forgiveness
Colossians 3:13; Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you..
This is so very important. When we are tied up in unforgiveness - we are just that - tied up. In order for God to wash through us and communicate to us the way He wants to, we need to be pure. We cannot be pure if we are clinging on to past sins, upsets and unforgiveness of one kind or another.

Or, if there is someone who just hates you, or has evil intentions for your life, forgive them, bless them. Pray that they see the light of realization, and God. This way you will be released from them and at the same time, become closer to God.
Psalm 86:5 ,You Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.
God (through Jesus) is forgiving. He wants us to be forgiving. Unforgiveness will hold us away from Him.
Since Jesus, it is the time of Grace where God has a new relationship with man and is forgiving, good, and abounding in love to all who call on Him. (See 'GRACE AND THE LAW').
Preoccupation and God
If you are preoccupied with unforgiveness, worries, fears, anger, strife, or any of the lower emotions that take you away from God, then God waits. He is a God of Choice and He waits for you to recognize and acknowledge Him.
Jesus is saying to His disciples who he is teaching, that they can have peace as long as they remain in Him.
That the disciples will have trouble in this world , but to take heart becauseGod through Jesus has overcome the world.
2 Thessalonians 3:16; "Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.

Philippians 4:6-7; “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When I think of all the years I struggled - alone and without God.
​
The Lord (Jesus) of peace can give us peace at all times. For me, it is so different now. I can be in peace. If anything tries to unsettle me, I know it is the body/brain, or the enemy, or those who serve the enemy.
​
I am not anxious for anything, but I pray to God (through Jesus) in tongues and thank Him all the time, because I feel like it - not because I am supposed to.

The Lord (Jesus) waits for us and is patient with us. He does not want anyone to perish (die). He wants everyone to repent and receive salvation (deliverance from the power and effects of sin).
Temptation and doubt
James 1:6-8; But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

The person who doubts has an up and down time of it. It is hard for them to make any definite progress and it is hard for anyone to make any progress with them, because they are like a wave of the sea which is tossed by the wind. They should expect to receive nothing from the Lord (Jesus). They are unstable in everything they do. To have us doubt is one of Satan's favorite tools. See 'SATAN, WHO HE IS')
1 Corinthians 10:13; No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Where does temptation come from? Where do the emotions of dissatisfaction, self doubt, incrimination, fear, worry, depression, anxiety that land on us, and so many of the other uncontrolled lower emotions come from?
Let's see where these characteristics are not coming from. They are not from God. They are not from the Holy Spirit and they are not from you/us (human spirit/reborn human spirit ). The pure you/us is God-given and is a spiritual rational being.

That only leaves 2 other places where uncontrolled emotions come from: the human body/brain/flesh itself, (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, AND YOUR MIND'). or Satan and his demons which are deliberate evils sent to your mind, or your body/brain/flesh in an effort to bring it/them down. (See 'SATAN, WHO HE IS')​

Speaking in tongues
1 Corinthians 14:2; For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.
​
Mark 16:17; And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My Name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
Acts 2:4; All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. (See what Got Questions has to say).
Acts 19:6; When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied (to reveal by Divine Inspiration. To predict the future with certainty).
1 Corinthians 14:39; Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.

Speaking in tongues I attempted about 4-5 years ago. It sounded wierd, stilted and fake, and maybe it was all 3 of those. I don't know. I sort of didn't believe in it.

One day a couple of years later I felt like praying in tongues to help a sick person. I prayed while touching her. All of a sudden speaking in tongues did not feel fake, and much to my surprise, she was healed!
​
Since that time I have helped several people the same way and they were all healed!
​
I watched Andrew Wommack and he said he prayed in tongues all the time. I started doing the same thing. I listened to Kathryn Kuhlman and she said that praying in tongues was beautiful and light.
​
I don't know exactly when it happened, but I pray in tongues all the time and it is a beautiful transcendent language. Light as a feather. (Watch out for demons who will try to assimilate it and all of sudden it will seem unnatural. You can always tell when they are around because your communication with God drops. It is a simple matter to pick it back up again and the demons flee.)
​
When I pray to God (through Jesus) this way I am not asking for anything usually. I am communicating directly to Him. And He in return communicates to me. It is really wonderful!
​
Today, I realized for the first time, I was communicating to the Creator of the universe! And He was communicating back to me! I felt so privileged. It was so much more than being allowed to speak to the President, or someone of equal importance. I was speaking to God!
​
I felt humbled. I did not have to become humble. It was just natural. I could tell He was delighted to share communication with me. It was the first time that I felt like His friend, His helper and His 'I will do anything for you' person.
​
My love for Him is overwhelming.
​
