THE HOLY SPIRIT

Since the death of  Jesus, we can have, in addition to the “human spirit” (Given to each one of us in the womb "spirit". (See HOW DID THE HUMAN SPIRIT AND BODIES COME ABOUT? - above) the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is sent by God to guide and work with our human spirit, provided we ask Jesus for it, and we believe.

Romans 8:16; The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

John 16:7;  But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

Ezekiel 36:27; And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

This verse is an example of the “Spirit” (Holy Spirit - capitalized) testifying with “our spirit” (human spirit - lower case), “that we are children of God”.

Here is demonstrated the differences between the two.

This is Jesus talking to His apostles just before his death "go away".  That if He does "not go away"  that "the Helper"  (Holy Spirit) will not come to them.  That it is to their "advantage" that He go.

(NOTE: Helper is capitalized which indicates that Jesus is talking about God's Holy Spirit)

God will put His Spirit (Holy Spirit) within us (if we ask for it), and it is the Holy Spirit who will cause us to walk within His rules.  This is the Law of Grace which every one of us can follow if we choose.  The Laws of Moses crippled people and reminded them how sinful they were.  The law of  Grace has to do with faith.

John 16:13; When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

To help us follow the rules ("statutes")  of God, we have His Holy Spirit indwelling us (if we choose) and speaking directly to us with messages from God Himself, which we can follow or not follow, since God is a God of choice.

1 Corinthians 2:12; What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.

"What we have received" is "from God" and "not the spirit of the world" (lower case = "human wisdom"). Who will teach us "with Spirit-taught words"  "spiritual realities" (in a way we can understand and which will be real to us). This is God's Holy Spirit working with our human spirit explaining "spiritual realities".  Aren't we fortunate, those of us who believe!

Matthew 16:19; “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

Dying to the law and being "crucified with Christ" means that Matthew no longer follows the old Law of Moses, that he now follows the Law of Gace where "Christ lives in me" (him)

He says that if "righteousness could be gained through the Law" then "Christ died for nothing!"  In other words righteousness had not been attained by the Law of Moses and had now been replaced by the Law of Grace.  Each and everyone of us can have the Law of Grace by asking Jesus, and we can have God's Holy Spirit living inside us to help us with life.

It is my opinion that God (through Jesus), after seeing all that Jesus suffered while here on Earth in human form, realized the genetic sinful problems inherent in bodies/brains given to us at birth were potentially overwhelming. That we needed more help especially in the face of mans evil in general, plus demonic influences.  So, He gave us another part of Himself - in addition to the human spirit - to guide us. This is called the Holy Spirit and we do need to ask Jesus for it and it has to be under the right circumstances.

SUMMARY: THE HOLY SPIRITSince the death of Jesus, God has sent His Holy Spirit - through Jesus - to each of us who have asked for it and believe in Him.  It is this Holy Spirit that works with our human spirit to help us make better life choices which are then judged on Judgement Day. See 'JUDGMENT DAY' below.

So those of us, who believe, can have 2 spirits.
