SUBMIT', submitto; sub, under, and mitto, to send.
To resign or surrender; to yield one's person to the power of another; to give up resistance.

2. To be submissive; to yield without murmuring.

KJV Dictionary Definition: subject

SUBJECT', Greek hypokeimene hylē (Aristotle), literally "that which lies beneath."

1. Placed or situate under.

There is a big difference between the 2 definitions:
"Place under" as opposed to resign/surrender or "yield without murmuring."

The translators, being men (sorry guys), decided to make the word 'submit' and not 'subject' as it is written in the original Greek texts.

This is especially important when it comes to Ephesians 5:22;  "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord"

THE Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.  YOU CAN SEE RIGHT HERE THAT THE TRANSLATORS HAVE TRANSLATED THIS AS 'SUBMIT' INSTEAD OF 'SUBJECT' WHICH IS THE ORIGINAL DEFINITION.
