DEFINITION OF MEMORY
Definition of memory from Merriam Webster
1a: the power or process of reproducing or recalling what has been learned and retained especially through associative mechanisms
He began to lose his memory as he grew older.
b: the store of things learned and retained from an organism's activity or experience as evidenced by modification of structure or behavior or by recall and recognition Merriam Webster.
Derivation (where the word comes from): from Anglo-French memorie (Old French memoire, "mind, memory, remembrance; memorial, record") '
Definition 'a': This is talking about the brain and it's ability to "reproduce or recall". This is evident by the sentence
"He began to lose his memory as he grew older" (above)
The good news is that this applies to our brain. We have a mind and our 'mind' does not grow older, only the brain does. That is why it is necessary to renew our mind. (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, & YOUR MIND')
Definition 'b': It is talking about "things learned", "modification of structure", "recall and recognition" (above). This again is the brain and the brain's body.
Our spiritual mind does not have these limitations. (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, & YOUR MIND')
1 Corinthians 2:16; For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ.
It is a no-brainer. If we have the mind of Christ then that would not be the brain, which belongs to the body and is flesh. (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, & YOUR MIND')
Everyone has a human spirit given to them in their mother's womb. (See 'HUMAN SPIRIT').This human spirit has the same mindset as Christ because God made it and it is part of Him. God made all of the human spirits which are housed in each one of our bodies
Romans 12:2;Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
We can get a renewed human spirit, and we can get a Holy Spirit, but if we do not renew our mind it is useless.
God has a plan/will for us "His good, pleasing and perfect will", which we can accept or not. If we do not renew out minds we will not be able to see it.
Notice it does not say to renew the body's brain, which is not our mind. (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, & YOUR MIND')
It has been a hard process for me because of a lifetime of self-involvement. Nowhere was I taught about human/social relations, or care for others, or God, or Jesus.
That just left me, mine, and mine, and me. LOL. I am now at that place, but not without great brain-twisting and the application of crucifiction of the flesh. (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, AND YOUR MIND).
2 Corinthians 10:3-5; For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
We see all around us various emotions from those who either are attacked by Satan, or live within the emotions of the brain/body. Sometimes we think that is the way we should behave. But it is not.
There is no stronger weapon against your enemies than your closeness to God. Provided you let go of unforgiveness and any of the lower emotions. Bless your enemies, pray for them and wish them well sincerely, God will, with Devine Power, handle them accordingly, but you will be released from them. Romans 12:19.
We need to make our thoughts come from our 'renewed mind' and obedient to Christ, not the body's brain. (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, & YOUR MIND').
Galatians 5:24; And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
We are supposed to 'crucify the flesh". I don't know what else that could be but the body/brain/flesh. That would mean we are not listening to the brain or the body. Then what are we listening to? That would be our renewed human spirit who is working with God through His Holy Spirit (through Jesus) who indwells us (Provided we have asked for it).
"The person without the Spirit" (Holy Spirit) "does not accept the things that come from the Spirit but considers them foolishness". This tells us that the Holy Spirit is not wasting its time trying to communicate to any entity without a spirit (human spirit) and that would include the body/brain/flesh. So, who is the Holy Spirit communicating to? It only leaves us, the spiritual us, that God put into our mother's womb that the Holy Spirit can communicate to. (See 'HUMAN SPIRIT').
Philippians 4:7; And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
God puts His Laws in our minds. Nowhere does it say that God puts anything into the flesh (brain/body).
The Holy Spirit works with our human spirit and it does not work with the body/brain/flesh.
Romans 14:5; One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.
In other words, if we are "convinced" in our mind about anything, that is the way it will be. (See 'FAITH AND BELIEF'')
1 Peter 1:13; Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at His coming.
God wants our minds "fully sober". In other words uncluttered with alcohol and drugs and the like.
In that state He wants us set our hope on grace. (See 'GRACE AND THE LAW' & See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, & YOUR MIND').
Hopefully by this time we have established there is a big difference between your mind and the brain/body/flesh.
This is really good news! Often people think they are losing their memory and are pretty worried about this. Then they go into agreement with the various authorities and start 'creating' the bad memory problem.
This may sound 'unreal' to you. I have spent my life ignoring the brain, because I had an abused upbringing which left my brain really messed up. Which was a blessing because in order to communicate and survive, I had to rise above my brain. My solution was to say the word "cancelled" to it's many unwanted thoughts and emotions.
Many people are so very concerned over their losing their memory (disintegrating frontal lobes), usually because of old age. My perspective is 'who needs it'. It's been in the way for most of my life.
If we are not depending upon the brain, then it leaves only our human spirit (hopefully reborn) and our renewed mind. Spirits do not 'remember' things like the the body/brain/flesh which thinks and remembers in pictures. Spirits have instant 'perfect recall'. They can certainly see anything past and present with perfect recall which includes all the perceptics and views of the area of that time. It was shake territory for me, to let go of the dependence upon the brain/body/flesh for memories and lean on my reborn human spirit, the Holy Spirit, and my renewed mind.
What's the solution for a brain which is decaying over time? It is to concentrate on who you really are, the human spirit. (See 'HUMAN SPIRIT') and (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, & YOUR MIND').
If you want to get the body/brain/flesh healed, it is possible (See 'HEALING FOR YOU'').
The above is a picture of the head and the brain. The brain runs the body; and always that was and is, it's purpose.
It was not supposed to 'run the 'human spirit's' 'mind' which is supposed to get renewed and listen to the reborn human spirit. The brain is not supposed to decide on the future. That is our 'mind's' job.
The brain is not spiritual and does not understand things of the spirit. (See 'YOU, YOUR BRAIN, & YOUR MIND').
2 Timothy 1:7; For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Who we really are (human spirit) is not timid and has power, love and self-discipline.
With the Holy Spirit, I am strengthened with unlimited love and power.
With Satan, I feel various shades of fear, worry and doubt, and of course ills and pains.
What is here on this page is great and if you apply these Bible verses, there is no reason that your life should not change for the better.
But there is so much more in the new book God, us, and Satan. I really recommend you purchase it. There are many links to Bible verses and my notes accompany most of them. And many pictures.
Seeing that many churches, institutions, and people were giving an incorrect version of the Bible, I set out to correct it, not only for myself but for others. I wanted God known as He is and as I found Him. I wanted people to have the truth, so I spent 8 years studying and unraveling God's messages to us from the original languages.
Many commentaries and pictures.
