Too many people think our mind is the brain.  This is not true.  They are completely different.

Our mind is non-physical and is made up of:

perfect recall, reason, determination, perception, imagination, desires,

plus kindness/goodness/love/joy/peace/self-control

if we put these there.

(which is different from the brain's memory)

The brain on the other hand is physical and belongs to the body.  The brain is flesh and has the attributes of the flesh as described in Galatians 5:19-21 (below) If you look at the definition (directly below in green) we can see the difference:

DEFINITION: The brain and the mind The brain is an organ but the mind isn't. The mind is  perception, emotion, determination, and imagination.  Researchgate.net,

Our mind can be in the the same place as the brain, not always.

The mind is spiritual and invisible.  God is invisible, the Holy Spirit is invisible.  You are invisible (human spirit which is who you are)

Galatians 5:22-23; But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

I knew I had to transform my mind. Transforming & Renewing of my mind  Romans 12:2 is probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do and continue to do.

I know I will never get the body or its brain (flesh) to understand the spiritual side of me, because of

1 Corinthians 2:14,

We are apended/joined to the body/brain which is full of genetic sins and recordings since the beginning of man.

But we can immerse the body/brain (flesh) in music and the fruit of the Spirit and prayer and positive energy.

It does respond.  It does obey.  It does get happier.

Galatians 5:19-21; Now the acts of the flesh are obvious, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20. idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21. envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The brain has mental disorders, brain traumas and stress. Its attention is on "acts of the flesh" as it says in Galatians 5:19-21

The brain stores millions  and billions of data (listen to Dr. Carolyn Leaf).  It thinks in pictures.

This body/brain is a mega survival recording system of all of its current and preceding genetic past recorded on it's cells. (DNA) all the way from Adam and Eve

The brain has stored all the evils since Adam and Eve.

This makes a lot of sense if we look at the brain as the body's computer which is very important to the body for it's survival, because it can depend upon what it has stored there, from past life experiences, to have solutions to its present life perceived problems.

We need to ask ourselves

  1. 'Who is making our life choices?'

  2. 'Who is the Bible there to instruct?'

  3. 'Who is going to be judged on Judgement Day?'

  4. 'Who needs to have faith?'

Let's be logical for a moment and ask ourselves 'Whom couldn't it be?"

Body/brain:  It is not the body and its brain making our life choices.  The brain (flesh) is making choices for the body (flesh) and its survival.  We can see from Galatians 5:19-21 (above) what the brain is thinking about.  It is not making our  life choices, or any life choices which are spiritual.

So, it is not the bodybrain that would make good answers for the 'Four Vital Questions'

God: It is not God making our life choices.  If God were making our life choices there would be no point in Judgement Day.

What could be we judged for?  We would have made no life choices.  (See 'JUDGEMENT DAY').

So, it is not God that would make good answers for the 'Four Vital Questions'

It is not the Holy Spirit making our life choices.  The Holy Spirit is part of God.  God did not give people the Holy Spirit  in order to control them.  God gave people the Holy Spirit to help them.  Because the Holy Spirit is God, the same answer applies.  Plus God never supersedes (replaces)  our own choices.

So, it is not the Holy Spirit that would make good answers for the 'Four Vital Questions'

It is not Satan making our life choices. Satan can only convince us to do evils as he is a liar, murderer and cheat.  He has no good in him.  He can only convince us and he is subject to our choices.  (See 'SATAN, WHO HE IS').

So, it is notSatan that would make good answers for the 'Four Vital Questions'

Now we know who it 'couldn't be', but we still do not have the answer to these 4 questions (above).

God gave His Sovereignty (Rulership and Authority) to mankind starting with Adam and Eve in Genesis 1:28:  (See 'THE BEGINNING OF MANKIND').

We were given a human spirit by God in our mother's womb.  (See 'HUMAN SPIRIT').

God sent his "Advocate, the Holy Spirit" to help us. (See 'HOLY SPIRIT').

1 Corinthians 2:16; But we have the mind of Christ.

Philippians 2:5; Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

Philippians 2:2; make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.

1 Corinthians 2:11; For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

Ephesians 4:23; and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

Romans 12:2; Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

"We have the mind of Christ".

1 Corinthians 2:16Philippians 2:5;

Philippians 2:2;

Only "the spirit of that person, which is in him" can understand his own thoughts.

That we "be renewed in the spirit of" our mind.

It is obvious from these verses that the human spirit has a mind of its own which is not the brain (flesh), and is not the Holy Spirit, and is not God.

That this human spirit is self-determined and has been given an ability to choose, think, express and decide its own actions, which it will be judged for on Judgement Day.

I have to wonder why we are so concerned about our brain and its functions if we have the mind of Christ.

The mind of Christ would have perfect recall and perfect intelligence.  In order to access this perfection, we would just have to lean in on God through His Holy Spirit, which He has so generously given us.  It would also be a matter of faith.

Whether we watch a  horror movie, or see a bloody event, or....?, the brain is recording them in pictures
(which is what it does with the life it perceives for survival purposes)

This means our brain now has a bunch of stuff including negatives recorded, which it refers to constantly when making decisions, suppositions and conclusions, in order to establish what the next action/response for the body should be.

This also means brain-generated irrational-thought-patterns/worries can infect our mind
and make it more difficult to stay in faith. See 'FAITH'.

I think we all have to agree that the brain is FLESH. I think it is important for us to remember that the flesh (we have inherited from birth) is full of sin genetically Galatians 5:19-21 (above), so God's Holy Spirit, especially in the light of 1 Corinthians 2:14 (below), has no option but to work through our God-given human spirit (YOU) within all of us.

See '

Romans 8:5-7; Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Galatians 5:24;  Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If one of Satan/demons main operating basis is to infect the brain/body and it's thoughts, then these verses would help, because if we crucify the flesh then that would defeat Satan/demons, because it would mean we are not listening to the brain/body/flesh, because the flesh (brain/body) has been crucified by us.

I have to say, in one respect an abused upbringing was of help to me, because I had to ignore the brain because it was so messed up. I had to ascend to a state above and away from the brain and ignore it (crucify the flesh). I had no idea how that would help me move into the realm of the human spirit, which I had only a vague idea about.

We need to stop listening to the brain which we know is "flesh".

  1. have our "minds set on what the flesh desires".

  2. Can be governing our mind, and for us, "is death".

  3. Is "hostile to God".

  4. "Cannot please God."

According to Romans 8:5-7; (above) if we believe that we are a brain/body/flesh and live "in accordance with it", then we have the following attributes:

BRAIN BODY canva.png

1 Corinthians 15:50; I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

  1. The flesh (body/brain) "cannot inherit the kingdom of God" (as some think).

  2.  "nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable." The body/brain are both perishable and therefore cannot inherit the kind of body which is imperishable, which we will all get when we enter the Kingdom of God - heaven.

The person without, and with the Holy Spirit

1 Corinthians 2:14; The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

It's hard to get some of your more spiritual ideas across to a person without the Holy Spirit.  I had a glorious marriage for 14 years because we were on the same page.  Death separated us, but we will always love each other.

Colossians 3:10; And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its creator.

Philippians 2:2-4; then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.

2 Corinthians 10:5; We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Romans 12:2; Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I watch carefully to stay on the path of these verses.  They are a guide for me. I had to renew my mind and rid myself of Satan's evils and intentions, which as I got closer to God, got stronger and stronger.   However, Satan only has the power we grant him.  (see 'SATAN, WHO HE IS')

Your mind is unseen but can be experienced, and is a combination of energies and intentions.  See picture above. It can be very confusing:

  1. Who we are is a human spirit given to each of us in the womb.  (See 'THE HUMAN SPIRIT'),

  2. Who we are, (human spirit) has intentions which we send to our mind which we all have. (See above)

  3. The Holy Spirit (from God - see 'THE HOLY SPIRIT'is not the same as the human spirit.  We can all have the Holy Spirit, if we ask for it, from Jesus.  The Holy Spirit works and helps our human spirit.  It does not work with the brain/body/flesh.

  4. The body/brain/flesh, its emotions and intentions can also enter your mind.

  5. Satan/demons evil intentions can also go into your mind, though they usually like to work and worry the body and its brain. (See 'SATAN, WHO HE IS').

  6. The flesh (brain/body) cannot go to heaven because it "cannot inherit the kingdom of God" nor can it "inherit the imperishable" because it is perishable  (1 Corinthians 15:50 above).

  7. If we were just body/brain/flesh, the "Spirit" (Holy Spirit) cannot work with us because the body/brain/flesh does not understand the things of the Holy Spirit "but considers them foolishness" (1 Corinthians 2:14 above).

Proverbs 6:30-31; People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving.

31Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house.

Satan and his demons work very hard trying to ruin your life.

Satan is a thief, murderer, and liar.  We can demand he pay us back 7-fold what he has taken from us.

Get the justice you deserve!

Watch Dr. Carolyn Leaf on the subject of your mind and the brain.  I was very glad to find her concepts which support what I have said above.

She also states that the mind is not the brain.

Dr. Caroline Leaf is a communication pathologist and cognitive neuroscientist with a Masters and PhD in Communication Pathology and a BSc Logopaedics, specializing in cognitive and metacognitive neuropsychology. Since the early 1980s, she has researched the mind-brain connection, the nature of mental health, and the formation of memory.
